07/07/2011 Home Movie Transfer

When I was looking for someone to transfer my folk's 8mm film onto a DVD, I did some looking around. Of course, the internet scared me because of the typical nightmare stories about what hacks have done to priceless memories. The list of people in the Kansas City area was not long, but I didn't want to send my parent's films to far off lands and never see them again. I started calling around and asking the questions I learned to ask from various web pages. When I called Chad, he was nice, funny, and knowledgeable and he moved to the top of the list, but I continued my quest. The next business was a lady who didn't digitize the film but she could add any music I wanted for a small fee. The next business told me he no longer did what I was looking for but the best in the area is Chad Godfrey, owner of Home Video Studio. He said he wouldn't go anywhere else. He gave me all kinds of technical reasons why Chad was the best and why everyone else did it wrong. By the time he was done, I called Chad back.

I made the right decision. When everything was completed and my sisters and I went to get the DVD, Chad let us watch the whole thing right there in the studio. I'm glad because there was no way I was making it home. We sat by the screen, pointed, and named all the relatives we recogized that had passed or aged more than we realized. When we gave it to my dad for Father's Day, his face looked instantly younger and excited.

"Can we watch it now? Can we watch it now?"

Seriously, he asked twice in a row like a little kid. Mom cried. It was magic. A few days later he took that DVD to my Grandparents (Grandma is 86 and Grandpa is 91). The best comment about the entire experience was, "Grandma got to see her mom again."

Dear Chad,

We have distributed the DVD video you produced for our "Inspired Visions" public art exhibit and we have had rave reviews from Public Art Commission members and the artists in the display. The DVD is the best vehicle we have of show what is involved in setting up an exhibit and having the artists speak from the heart about their work. The DVD is widely distributed to our support organizations and to all the art teachers in every school in the Blue Springs district so that youth are made aware of the role of public art in the community.

Each year, there is a challenge involved in producing the public art video, such as the weather or the artists not coming on schedule. What I greatly appreciated about your working with us was that you were here on time and willing to stay until the entire process was complete. You gave ideas to the artists as they went on camera and added unique touches, such as music and graphics, to make the video interesting. Also important to us was that you provided us the opportunity to preview the video and make suggestions for changes before it was duplicated.

From a technical standpoint, we were very satisfied. The quality of the images were outstanding. We were pleased with your availability to be flexible in filming the artists and in securing additional photographs for our use in our brochure and other publicity. You kept on top of the project, involving everyone as needed to get the titles, names, and other information correct.

We had the best experience working with Chad on our recent video production. From his terrific voice-over direction all the way to an amazing finished product, it was a professional, easy, and fun experience. He listened to our ideas and what we needed, and then added so much creativity and energy to the whole process that made our product better than we could have ever imagined at the beginning of our journey. We have already had such a fantastic response to the video that our team is now in the planning stages to complete six more in the series. We cant wait to work with Chad and his team again. I had VHS home movies transferred to DVD for my mom, brother and sister for Christmas. I was told it was the best Christmas present I could have given them. There were many memories on those VHS tapes and no one has VHS recorders anymore, so we couldn't watch them. Thanks to Chad, we can enjoy our childhood. He did an excellent job and now having him transfer slides of my grandfather's to DVD.

Chad, wanted to take the time to thank you for the job you did converting my Father's old 8mm home movies & slides from the 50's & 60's. The DVD quality was far superior to the old movies and we no longer have to try and find a projector and screen to rent to view these. We can store the DVD in a safe and had extra copies for everyone who wanted them! Looking forward to using you for my son's graduation video and West Point send off! Eric Santon

Good afternoon Chad, Wanted to let you know that my wife and I received the dvd's today. The first thing we did was to sit down and view your work and the memories. We have not been able to view them for the past 20 plus years due to our projector dying on us. I am happy to inform you that we are very happy with the results of the transfer to the dvd. You have preserved the movies for many, many years to come for us and our children. My wife and I would like to thank you very, very much for doing such a professional job on the transfer. We will definitely bring more business in your direction in the very near future. Whenever one does business over the internet, one takes a chance of choosing the correct vendor to do the deed. Chad, Just a short note to tell you how pleased I was with the video project. I really liked the menu. The news footage and animated launch shorts were interesting and your restoration work on the old educational film about this famous early American rocket was superb! I never imagined that you could coax as good a black & white image from that 50-year-old, badly faded color film! Even the Smithsonian doesn't have a readily usable copy of it! Thanks for your patience. Congratulations on doing such a great job! I'll keep you in mind for future film transfer work.

Chad transferred my mini-DVD home videos to regular sized DVDs after I had a fight with my computer. He helped us make 3 "We Miss You Daddy" videos to send to deployed daddy. Daddy says seeing his family on DVD got him through the deployment. He's getting ready to leave again, so I'm sure I'll be calling Chad again!! Thanks -

I HAVE NEVER WORKED WITH ANYONE SO WILLING TO MAKE THINGS WORK OUT FOR THE CUSTOMER! CHAD AND HIS STAFF ARE WILLING TO PICK UP AND DELIVER. I COULD HAVE NOT GOTTEN MY FIRST ORDER COMPLETED WITHOUT THIS SERVICE. THEY ARE UPFRONT ABOUT COSTS AND SERVICES.
