Darrell Day is a 1981 graduate of Eastern Kentucky University with a Bachelors Degree in Music Education. He earned his Masters in Music Education at Butler University in 2003. Darrell serves as the Director of Studio Services for Home Video Studio where his duties include service to all current owners AND sales of new studios to video enthusiasts around the country.
In addition to that, he oversees the judging for the Hanley Awards which take place at the annual Getaway in Las Vegas. He has known Robert since 1991 and has been associated with Home Video Studio since the year 2000. Besides his work with HVS, he has been busy in his OTHER passion - music: his performance credits include the Greater Miami Opera Company, Musicana Dinner Theatres, "Follies on Broadway" (a European tour with the Wim Zomer Theatre Company), Opryland USA, and hundreds of sacred and secular solo appearances. His voice study was with Dr. David Wehr and Dr. Donald Henrickson of Eastern Kentucky University plus additional study with Jean Deis at Indiana University and David Stivender at the Metropolitan Opera of New York.
Mr. Day has also coached with Jon Spong, personal accompanist for internationally renowned baritone, Sherrill Milnes. In addition, he has recorded for Hal Leonard Publishing, Warner Brothers Publishing, Beckenhorst Publishing, and others. In his capacity as Director of Worship Arts, Darrell has served as choral and handbell conductor for a variety of churches. In addition, he taught public schools for 15 years teaching choir, handbells, and general music.
Mr. Day is an accomplished pianist with his first CD of piano works, "Make Me Beautiful", released in the Fall of 2006. Darrell also plays all of the brass instruments with trumpet being primary. He is the composer of over 300 works for choir, handbells, instrumental groups, the opera "Lizzie Lloyd", 2 musicals, 2 film scores, and a Mass. He is married to Susan Day and they have two beautiful children, Megan and Tom.
